Felicity Jones channels a young and determined Ruth Bader Ginsburg fighting for gender equality in On the Basis of Sex.

The movie takes place in 1975, telling the story of Ginsburg as a lawyer before she became tenacious Supreme Court Justice. Rogue One‘s Felicity Jones will be playing the part, Ginsburg’s Brooklyn accent included.

The young lawyer works with her husband, Marty, to fight a gender discrimination case. Later known as Weinberger v. Wiesenfeld, where a Ginsburg argued in favor of fathers’ rights after a widower was not granted benefits when widows usually were. This would be one of several cases that Ginsburg would strike down gender discrimination in court.

The film’s announcement comes in perfect timing as Ginsburg just recently celebrated her 25th anniversary as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. She was the second women to ever be sworn in at the time.

Jones is surrounded by a powerful cast of Armie Hammer (as Marty), Justin Theroux, Kathy Bates, and Sam Waterson. Mimi Leder directed the movie and Focus Features is sending it to theaters on December 25.
