When the single for the EDM bop was released, we reported on Cheat Codes’ meaning behind “Only You” as encapsulating love as a movie with the song being the final scene, and the just-released video appears to be just that.
With a Stranger Things meets Black Mirror “San Junipero” vibe, the video paints the scene of a love that slips through Lisa Jacqueline Starrett and Peyton List’s fingers.
Starting with both girls searching for an outfit to wear, the LGBTQ+ romance ignites when the two meet, dance, and fall in love — and in a pool— at a party.
As the sparks fly, we can’t help but ignore the lyrics “somewhere down the line we went and lost it” as we root for the couple, but the brief affair quickly spirals out of control when it’s revealed there’s an Aquamarine twist.
