To Return or Not to Return?

Sephora is tracking the number of times you return products which can potentially get you banned from returning products forever.

Have you ever returned a product to Sephora? Then you’ll know that they have a great return policy. The franchise lets you return products within 60 days of purchase even if you’ve used it. Let’s face it. A lot of us have come from Sephora with a bag full of goodies, only to return some of it.

Now, Sephora is cracking down on the number of returns by banning those who do it excessively by teaming up with TRE to track return behavior. After some women have posted their concerns of an e-mail received from Sephora about the ban, Sephora confirmed with a statement to Racked:

“Sephora is dedicated to providing all of our customers with an excellent shopping experience. We make every effort to accommodate returns, but a small fraction of customers take advantage of our policy, in many cases returning more than twice as much merchandise as they purchase. This limits product selection and unfairly impacts other clients. When we identify excessive return patterns, we notify those customers that we may limit future returns or exchanges if no proof of purchase is provided.”

TRE uses its tracking system to keep count of purchases made, items returned, and the cost of those products for one person. The person then accumulates a score. When the score reaches a certain limit, the person may risk being banned from returning items.
