Mizizi Is More Than Just Fashion, It’s Culture
Mizizi says, “our respective cultures have always been dope and deserving of representation”, and they’re absolutely right.
The official website for lifestyle brand perfectly describes who they are, but let us tell you why we love them.
Started by two college students in Florida, Paakow Essandoh and George Kariuki created the company in 2015 so they and others could see African pride on display and connect with their culture on another level.
The jerseys they created have the names of many different countries on them for shoppers to pick from. There is also a choice of having baseball, basketball, or hockey style.
Mizizi’s core values are connection and representation. Even though it may just be an article of clothing, wearing that country’s name across your chest is an amazing way to represent and connect with yourself and others. The name Mizizi itself is Swahili for “roots” and that’s exactly what the brand intended with their hashtag #STAYROOTED.
Mizizi is gaining well-deserved notoriety, especially since the debut of their official Marvel Black Panther jersey.
Vibranium • “(/vaɪˈbreɪniəm/“ – is a nearly indestructible element that crash landed from outer space millennia ago into the African region that would become Wakanda. Arguably the 8th wonder of the world. #RestockJune19th ___ 📸 @temi.coker ___ #MIZIZI #StayRooted #streetwear #Marvel #diaspora #BlackPanther #wakandaforever #StyledByMarvel #Juneteenth
