Could Howard Schultz be a Future Presidential Candidate?

(Instagram)

From the Seattle SuperSonics to Starbucks to…president of the United States?

Howard Schultz is an American businessman who is famous for being the CEO of Starbucks from 1986 to 2000, and 2008 to 2017, and its executive chairman the following year.

He hinted with his coming resignation from the chairman position that a run for political office might be possible. Schultz is stepping down effective June 26th. This has sparked speculation about his political plans, although it is currently up in the air.

Howard Schultz has shown to be fairly progressive with his business moves. Some examples of this are through the company, with Starbucks raising the minimum wage and supporting same-sex marriage.  Schultz also publicly apologized for the recent Philadelphia racial controversy.

There is little beyond his one statement and the following interview, to suggest that he is actively considering a presidential run. Additionally, many Democratic operatives mentioned that they had not heard of inquiries.

Politically speaking, the possibility of Schultz’s presidential candidacy comes from the power of outside businessmen going for politics, referring to the most recent example of our current President Trump.

We will see how these speculations play out in the coming months.
