Childish Gambino’s ‘This Is America’ Has Inspired Nigerian Artist, Falz

(Instagram)

Childish Gambino had one of the most controversial and inspirational “woke” videos of the year so far.

People were inspired by Childish Gambino, Donald Glover’s, creativity and immense use of metaphors and messages within his video. A Nigerian rapper had taken the message and decided he should make a video of his own. Falz’s “This is Nigeria” song had exposed the faulty government system, corruption, consumerism, religious leaders, and more. The Muslim Rights Concern other wise known as MURIC, has threatened the rapper and demands removal of the video and an apology to Nigerian Muslims within the next seven days.

The ‘Cable’ quotes MURIC’s statement, “It is a hate video. This video has the potential of causing religious crisis of unprecedented dimension. It is an assault on the self-dignity of every Muslim. It is freedom of expression gone haywire. We therefore demand its withdrawal and an apology to Nigerian Muslims within seven days or the authors and their agents will face legal action if they fail to comply.”

The uncertainty and demand from MURIC only proves there is something suspicious about Nigeria’s Government and there might be truth to what is going on there. Falz just like Gambino is just bringing awareness to what others have ignored.
