Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Marks Fifty Years

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was always a childhood favorite and was one of the most popular children television shows around. 

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was an educational television show for children. The show was created by and starred Fred Rogers who was also known as Mr. Rogers. The first episode of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was aired in February 1968, and ever since then, the show continued on through generations of children. The last show aired in August 2001, and the show’s new episodes were never seen or heard from since then.

Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood was found on networks like PBS, Universal Kids, and National Educational Television, and educating children was Fred Rogers’ goal within his show.

Today, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood marks fifty-years since it first premiered on television for children. To celebrate the anniversary of the show, the upcoming movie ‘Won’t You Be My Neighbor?‘, will be released on June 8th, 2018,  and will take a closer look into the work of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood and Fred Rogers’ life.

In celebration of the show, the Twitter page for the upcoming film started a trending hashtag, #ThingsILearnedFromMrRogers. Followers and fans of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood responded to the hashtag saying things like:


Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood left a huge impact on his young viewers. Now, these young viewers are grown adults remembering life lessons that Mister Rogers shared with them that stayed, and will continue to stay, with them for a lifetime.
