Blaming women for the actions of men is a problem, and Ariana Grande won’t stand for it.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Ariana Grande and Mac Miller called it quits on their almost two-year relationship.

Following the breakup, the “No Tears Left To Cry” singer posted a lengthy message on her Instagram story to express her love and support of the rapper, saying that her unconditional love meant “wanting the best for that person even if at the moment it’s not you.”

Last Thursday, Mac Miller was arrested on charges of DUI and a hit and run. Grande was silent on the incident until a Twitter user criticized her decision to end their relationship “after [Mac Miller] poured his heart out on a ten song album to her.”

Replying to the viral tweet, Grande described the relationship as “toxic” and noted “how absurd” it was for the Twitter user to “minimize female self-respect and self-worth by saying someone should stay in a toxic relationship because he wrote an album about them.”

Grande reminded her critics that she’s not Miller’s keeper and that no woman should be made feel like they need to act like a “babysitter or a mother” in their relationship. “I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety for years (and always will of course) but shaming / blaming women for a man’s inability to keep his shit together is a very major problem. Let’s please stop doing that,” she wrote.

Grande continues, “Of course I didn’t share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was. I will pray from the bottom of my heart that he figures it all out and that any other woman in this position does as well.”

The Twitter user has since sincerely apologized, and Grande thanked him.

“I appreciate your response v much,” she wrote. “sending u love.”
