Facebook

History has been made by Stacey Abrams for Georgia’s Democratic Primary election.

Democrats, women, minorities, and people everywhere are celebrating this historical win for humanity.  Abrams receiving the spot as Democratic Primary candidate for Georgia’s election has proved to be a monumental moment; still however, only the beginning of a long journey for women and minorities to run for and win more political positions.

Abrams moved to Georgia with her family when she was a teenager, where she would become her high schools first African- American Valedictorian.  She continued to excel in her education, eventually receiving her J.D. from Yale University.  She has worked as a lawyer, businesswoman, and politician, eventually becoming a member of the Georgia House of Representatives as well as serving as Minority Leader of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Roy Barnes was the most recent democratic Governor of Georgia, in office from 1999 to 2003.  Democrats of the state are hoping for their candidate to receive the spot as the executive head of Georgia, especially since the state’s last two governors were Republican.

Stacey Abrams may continue to make history and become the first black, female governor of any state in the U.S.  Abrams offers hope and inspiration to women everywhere, assisting in progressing our nation towards future in which the more women may run and win positions in the U.S. government.
