Why Lea Michele Will Wait to Have Children

This Glee star isn’t interested in starting a family any time soon.

The 31-year-old was recently engaged to the president of the women’s clothing company AYR, Zandy Reich. Though they are both amid quite successful careers, that is actually the reason why Michele wants to defer having kids.

She explained to Us Weekly, “I’m still playing roles that are under 21, so I kind of want to push that as long as I can. Having a baby might mess that up for me.”

Michele played McKinley High glee club member Rachel Berry in the hit FOX series, which ran from 2009 to 2015. Afterward, she teamed back up with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, for Scream Queens, in which she portrayed a college student.

While the Broadway-turned-TV star definitely sees herself having children in the future, she says, “I come from a very large Italian family, so that’s very important to me,” that chapter of her life will remain on hold until further notice. Besides, she has her upcoming concert tour with former Glee co-star Darren Criss–not to mention planning a wedding with her new fiancé–to focus on.
