Michigan State University Pays Abuse Victims $500 Million

(Shuttershock)

“We are truly sorry to all the survivors and their families for what they have been through, and we admire the courage it has taken to tell their stories.” -Brian Breslin, MSU Chairman.

Michigan State University will pay $500 million to those who were sexually abused by Larry Nassar, the former doctor of the university.

Nassar, who is 54 years old, was sentenced to over 100 years in prison for abusing many female athletes he was supposed to be tending to. He was sentenced to federal jail, charged with child pornography for 60 years, and even longer with sexual assault for over three hundred victims.

This is a historic settlement case. This deal specifically does not deal with confidentiality agreements, allegations against other groups and USA Gymnastics. $425 million will be paid to the claimants, and additionally $75 million will be set aside for future allegations.
