The popular novel will be adapted on screen as an 8-episode limited series.

Much to many fans’ excitement, John Green’s first novel Looking for Alaska is finally making its way to the screen. Paramount Pictures purchased the rights to the book 13 years ago with plans to adapt it as a feature film. Green revealed the decision to sell the rights “was the right thing for [his] family”, and doesn’t have regrets – even though it means he doesn’t have complete control over what happens with the title.

Looking for Alaska will be adapted into an eight-episode limited series on Hulu–with Josh and Stephanie (who’ve stuck with this for 13 YEARS!) running the show. I’m excited. Hope you are, too. https://t.co/RqzJYbq115

The author held a Reddit Ask Me Anything on Wednesday to discuss the new show and answer fan questions. He discussed the holdups the movie had and the ultimate decision to bring the project to a streaming service as a limited series. The series is still in the early stages of development; casting is yet to take place and a premiere date has not been announced.
