Octavia Spencer Will Star in “Are You Sleeping” Drama
Apple gave a series order to Are You Sleeping for ten episodes, that will star Octavia Spencer.
Are You Sleeping, a drama thriller, will give insight into America’s obsession with true-crime stories and podcasts, like Serial and Into the Dark. The series is based off of the crime novel by Kathleen Barber, which tells a different, thrilling story about how a popular podcast reopens a murder case and shakes up a new story. The show was written by The Good Wife producer, Nichelle Tramble Spellman.
Octavia Spencer is a three-time Oscar nominee and Oscar winner in The Help and Hidden Figures. Spencer will be an executive producer of the series, along with Spellman, Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Kristen Campo.
Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company is lined up to produce the show. This is not the first time Hello Sunshine has teamed up with Apple, as they will produce an unnamed series with Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston playing into the ruthless morning news world.
