Catch Cirque Du Soleil’s Luzia Before It’s Too Late

Described as “a waking dream of Mexico,” Luzia sheds light on the beauty of Mexican culture.

Cirque du Soleil’s Luzia integrates the element of water, a variance of stages, a set of surrealistic animals, and newly tested hoop dives. With a wave of Mexican inspiration, Luzia transports the audiences of Washington D.C. (their next tour stop) and everyone else to an imaginary Mexico.

In a dream-like state, the power of light (“luz” in Spanish) captures the spirit and rain (“lluvia”) moves the soul to a place of transcendence. With visual supplements, such as surprising tricks and acrobatic performances, the show delivers the traditional and modern takes of the “places, faces and sounds of Mexico.”

As they utilize water as a source of inspiration, the use of water adds to the level of acrobatic complexity never-before-seen on the Cirque du Soleil stage, or any stage alike. One can witness Cyr Wheel artists perform under the rain, while aerialists perform through pouring showers.

All the while, their stage adapts beneath their feet. From a semi-desert to an undersea world, the stage design evolves and sets the tone for the show filled with fun and fascinating creatures inspired by Mexico’s traditional arts and crafts.

To catch Luzia on this tour, you can get tickets for their upcoming shows in Washington D.C., Boston, Massachusetts, as well as Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City.
