Two Students Injured from School Shooting

17-year-old Austin Wyatt Rollins shot two of his classmates before he was stopped and died from a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, March 20, just before classes were to begin, Rollins shot a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy with a 9-millimeter gun. Police have found that there is an “indication that a prior relationship existed between the shooter and the female victim.” She is currently in critical condition.

School resource officer Deputy First Class Blaine Gaskill responded immediately to the scene and exchanged gunfire with Rollins. Gaskill was not injured. As the shooting took place, the building was placed on lockdown and students were evacuated.

Stunned students spoke out about the shooting on Twitter.

According to The Trace, the shooting is the 11th time a gun has gone off in a school since the Parkland shooting.
