Ellen Pompeo Refutes Claim That Her Salary Negotiation Resulted in Exit of Co-stars

Pompeo recently warned fans not to believe the recent claim that her new $20 million salary lead to the departure of Grey’s Anatomy co-stars Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew.

“Its unfortunate that @DEADLINE chooses to try to pit women against each other,” Pompeo wrote in one tweet.

In another, the actress states that this claim is above her pay grade.

Showrunner Krista Vernoff also spoke out against the claim in a tweet, writing, “The suggestion in the Deadline article that our cast changes are in any way related to Ellen Pompeo’s salary renegotiation is wrong and hurtful and misguided. It smacks of an old, broken, patriarchal notion that women must be pitted against each other and that one woman’s success will be costly to others.”

We’re glad that Pompeo was quick to clear things up and call them out on posting such a divisive story.
