Irreplaceable You Is the Netflix Movie You Need to Watch

( Linda Kallerus / Netflix)

This movie will have you in tears one moment and full of laughter the next.

(Netflix)

Its plot centers on young lovers, Abbie and Sam, who have been together since they were children. Their love story is quirky and sweet, which give major Cory and Topanga vibes.

However, like all rom-coms there’s a major change coming their way and that change is cancer. Abbie develops cancer right after becoming engaged to her lifelong love Sam. Using cancer as a main conflict in the plot has been done in movies many times and has become a cliche.

However, this movie takes a strange yet entertaining turn. Instead of focusing on her disease, Abbie decides to focus on finding Sam a lover so he won’t be lonely when she dies. It’s endearing and it makes a statement about the importance of living life in the present. Focusing too much on what could happen in the future hinders Abbie from enjoying her life with Sam.

But the movie really speaks to young people in the sense that we tend to either dwell on the past or stress about the future. This movie shows what you could mess up or miss out on when you refuse to acknowledge the good things in the present.
