How These Moms Are Fighting Against Gun Violence

Hundreds of moms from the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America have begun planning to run for office to overturn legislation to fight for tougher gun laws.

Members have already been attending advocacy events in their state capitals, working alongside law enforcement, and collaborating with businesses to advocate for gun safety.

The organization’s main premise is that political problem solving shares many of the same skills required for community organizing. Members are trained in various specialties, including fundraising, messaging, and doing interviews.

Out of the 13 members of Moms Demand Action who ran for office in November, nine won. There will be more to come.
