Camping in New York Should Be on Your Summer List

(Collective Retreats)

Big cities and camping do not normally go together.

This summer, starting May 1st and going until Halloween you can camp in New York. “Glamping” is the more appropriate name for what you should expect for your stay. Collective Retreats specializes in glamorous camping experiences. The campgrounds will be on Governor’s Island in New York City. This is not this company’s first rodeo and they will not disappoint. They have other glamorous camping experiences in Sonoma, CA; Hudson Valley, NY; and Vail, CO. This one in New York will be the largest one yet. It will be able to cater up to 100 guests at a time.

The six-acre space that is a former military base that has not been used since the 90’s, will be transformed into a lawn for live music to be performed, recreational areas for people to have fun throughout the day, and food.

There will be two options for campers on the island. The first is a luxury tent with a private bathroom, an outdoor deck, electricity, and a wood-burning stove to cook your own food. The second is called the “premium bell tent,” which has electricity and beds, but has no connected bathroom. Both of these options sound great and depending on which option you choose the price is between $150-$500.

Reserve your site and have a ball this summer camping in New York City.
