Idris Elba Proposes to Girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre
Idris Elba is getting married.
The British actor has proposed to his girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre. The proposal took place at the screening of his film, Yardie in East London. Before the screening started, Elba got down on one knee and popped the question to which Dhowre responded yes.

The audience, which included friends and colleagues, cheered for the couple’s engagement. The couple met last year in Canada while Elba was filming, The Mountain Between Us. Dhowre is a model and former Miss Vancouver, being crowned in 2014.
Elba’s film, Yardie, is an adaption of the 1993 novel of the same name. It is a Jamaican-based story where a boy decides to look for his brother’s killer. The film is Elba’s directorial debut. Tolulope Ogunmefun, who stars in the film, tweeted his excitement for the newly engaged couple, writing “In other news, I just witnessed my bro [Idris Elba] propose 2 Wifey.” Ogunmefum later posted a picture of him with Elba captioning it with “Big bro/Mentor.”
