Doritos made the trending page on Twitter and in the news on Monday, February 5th with the announcement of a new product they claim to be perfect for women- a chip that will make less of a crunching sound.

Pepsico chief executive Indra Nooyi told in a recent podcast about the new product, which some are finding extremely sexist. Nooyi’s explanation was that men love to get dust from the chips on their fingers and get messy with the product and that women don’t find the same enjoyment. She continued to explain that they are looking for products that women can carry in their purses because women “love to carry a snack in their purse”.

To no surprise, the internet has found quite the problem with this new genderization. People took to Twitter to express their outrage, as many were surprised to see such stereotyping still happening with all of the progressive thought in 2018.

Doritos has responded to the negativity, and it’s going to be very interesting to see whether Doritos expresses more information on whether or not they are carrying through with this product release.
