Andra Day inspired the LA Women’s March with her encouraging song “Rise Up.”

Day took the stage exuding positivity and radiance. Before blessing the audience with her beautiful vocals, Day expressed how her “prayer is that it is healing, encouraging, inspiring.” She dedicated the powerful song to everyone at the Women’s March and everyone fighting against injustice. “Rise Up” is the perfect song to inspire activists to come together and keep their spirits up. The crowd waved their hands in unison to the song while Day gave an incredibly heartfelt performance.

The next song she performed was “Stand Up for Something.” The equally powerful song continued to raise the hopes and spirits of the crowd. The lyrics “it all means nothing if you don’t stand up for something” speaks to the time we are living in with all the current injustice not only against women, but of minorities, the LGBTQ community, and so many more people that are treated with less respect and dignity.

Day sang with so much soul and conviction that with every word you really felt she meant it. She gave a wonderful performance and she accomplished her goals of inspiring and encouraging the crowd.
