Rachel Platten Talks Empowerment at Women’s March
Rachel Platten is in the fight yet again, but this time she’s fighting for women’s rights and empowerment.
The singer/songwriter participated in events during this year’s Women’s March in Los Angeles. During the event, Platten performed her hit single, “Fight Song,” giving the song new meaning. In the spirit of the march, the song reminds us about the fight for women’s progress in society and hope for future generations. While performing the single, the artist felt the power of how it brought everyone together and that “it was hard to get through without crying.”
Platten stated that the images from last year’s Women’s March served as the inspiration behind her single, “Broken Glass.” The song, as signified by its title, is about breaking the glass ceiling. Women’s struggle to reach top positions and break barriers pushes the importance of events like the Women’s March.
Platten also got to chance to perform “Broken Glass” and spoke on how powerful it was for her to “sing those words that were meant for a moment like this.” The musician also reminds us that during these tough times, “we don’t need anymore division…we’re all the same” despite the differences in our cultures and backgrounds.
