Amena Khan backs out of a deal with L’Oreal Paris after being named the first hijab-wearing model.
British beauty blogger, Amena Khan, made history as the first hijab-wearing model to be signed with L’Oreal Paris. However, her past tweets have caused her to back out of her deal. She responded to the tweets via an Instagram post.
According to BBC, her past tweets in 2014 were labeled as “anti-Isreal.” Khan’s tweets have been deleted since the backlash began, but a spokesperson from BBC News gave an official statement saying, “We agree with her decision to step down from the campaign.” Among other faces of L’Oreal have been Blake Lively, Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, and Eva Longoria.
