Gabrielle Union’s New Show Is Coming

We’re getting a new series starring Gabrielle Union.

A TV series version of the Bad Boys film franchise is coming to NBC. The network has ordered a pilot the upcoming project. However, the TV series won’t feature male leads like the film, but rather female leads.

The show will star Gabrielle Union reprising her role from Bad Boys II as special agent, Sydney “Syd” Burnett. In the film, Burnett (Union) was an undercover DEA agent, who was the sister of Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and romantically involved with his partner, Detective Lowrey (Will Smith). It is unknown whether Martin Lawrence or Will Smith will make an appearance in the show.

The untitled project is being written by The Blacklist’s writer-producers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis. In the series, Union’s character will begin her new job as an LAPD detective as she follows in her brother’s footsteps. Her partner, Nancy McKenna (who is currently not cast), is “a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy.” They’re both women at the top of the game with different lifestyles.

Union’s current series, BET’s Being Mary Jane, will end September 19, 2018, with a tw0-hour movie.

We’re looking forward to Gabrielle’s next project.
