Facebook Is Changing Your News Feed

Mark Zuckerberg just announced that Facebook will be prioritizing friends and family posts over brand advertising.

The man behind David Fincher’s Social Network Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the company will be modifying their algorithms to give us just what we want. The social media superstar announced Thursday evening that Facebook will be shifting their business model to promote posts from family and friends in order “to help people stay connected.”

In retreating back to the original purpose behind the creation of Facebook, Zuckerberg added in his post to say, “We feel a responsibility to make sure our services aren’t just fun to use, but also good for people’s well-being.”

In hopes of limiting the invasion of advertisers, Zuckerberg concedes and acknowledges that changes in the metrics could damage their business model, but feels the risk is worth it for the consumers. “As we roll this out, you’ll see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard — it should encourage meaningful interactions between people.”

Does this mean we are getting closer and closer to a chronological Instagram feed again? We hope so! Facebook is their parent company after all!
