Natalie Portman Joins Instagram to Support Important Cause #TIMESUP

Portman plans to use her first, and only, social media account to support Time’s Up, a new anti-harassment action plan.

As one of the movement’s founders, Portman posted a link on her Instagram bio to the Time’s Up website where people can sign a letter in solidarity and donate to its legal defense fund. With a goal of fifteen million dollars, the fund will help give legal support to men and women who were sexually harassed or abused in the workplace.

Posted on Portman’s Instagram are statements articulating the plan’s goals, one of them simply saying: “TIME’S UP on silence. TIME’S UP on waiting. TIME’S UP on tolerating discrimination, harassment, and abuse.”

Another post shows a letter published January 1 in The New York Times as an ad on behalf of the hundreds of women working in the entertainment industry. According to the letter, “We remain committed to holding our own workplaces accountable, pushing for swift and effective change to make the entertainment industry a safe and equitable place for everyone, and telling women’s stories through our eyes and voices with the goal of shifting our society’s perception and treatment of women.”

We’re definitely ready to join the movement.
