It has been 25 years since Home Alone 2: Lost in New York first premiered and it has been a holiday classic since. In the movie Kevin McCallister finds himself lost and alone in New York City. Along with his journey, he meets many new faces including Rob Schneider who plays Cedric, a bellman at The Plaza Hotel.

Schneider is a known star now, but was just starting his career in 1992 when he landed the role.

“Because I was on Saturday Night Live they wanted to meet with me in New York. I thought it was just a meeting but they said, ‘Hey, we would love to have you in this movie.’ I thought I was just auditioning not getting a role. And it was just a blast,” the actor tells Us Weekly. “I just said to myself, ‘Look, I’m in my twenties I don’t need to sleep. I can work on this show during the day and then Saturday Night Live at night.’ They gave me a hotel room between setups so I would take a little 20-minute nap and I got through it.”

He was a huge fan of the first movie as well as Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern so getting the role meant a lot to the young actor. He saw an opportunity, he took it and killed his role as Cedric the Bellman.
