“It’s a surreal moment because this is one of the people I idolized,” Lamar stated.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Kendrick Lamar discussed a variety of topics from working with Taylor Swift to his first time meeting Dr. Dre. One thing that he revealed to the world was that he almost received a feature from Prince on the album To Pimp a Butterfly. According to Lamar, he played a song for Prince titled “Complexion,” and he liked the song, but, they never managed to record it.

“It’s one of those things where it’s so much going on in the moment, man,” Lamar stated. “I did a show with him that day, I didn’t even know I was coming out on stage. The studio was next door where I just played him the song. We were running back and forth.” Lamar continued.

Though he did not get the chance to collaborate with Prince, he still managed to perform side by side with one of his idols.
