Paramount’s The Rhythm Section is set to release on February 22, 2019.

However, it is unsure if the film will meet this deadline after the star sustained an injury on the set of the film. The studio released a statement to the press, reading, “Paramount, Global Road (formerly known as IM Global) and producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli today confirmed that filming has been temporarily suspended on The Rhythm Section as Blake Lively sustained an injury to her hand whilst filming an action sequence. Production will resume as soon as possible.”

The film is a female-driven thriller. Lively plays Stephanie Patrick, a woman who seeks revenge on those that caused a plane crash that killed her family. She must pretend that she is an assassin responsible for the crash though to find out who was actually behind the scheme.

2017 has certainly been the year for on set accidents. Tom Cruise while filming the next installment of the Mission Impossible franchise injured his ankle while doing one of his stunts where he jumped from one building to another. There was also the death of stunt double John Bernecker, the first believed stunt related death in over 17 years in the industry. Bernecker was on the set of The Walking Dead when he fell over 30 feet onto a concrete floor during a routine stunt practice.

We hope Blake has a speedy recovery and can make it back to her latest project as soon as possible.
