Willow Smith Shares Her Uneasy Experience Growing up Famous
Growing up famous is not all it is cracked up to be according to Willow.
Willow Smith recently interviewed with Girlgaze for its first release, and in that interview, she revealed the struggles faced growing up with famous parents. Her parents Will and Jada Smith are well-established celebrities having significant success in films and music for over 20 years. As a 17-year-old, Willow Smith describes growing up through all of this as “absolutely terrible.”
Being in the public eye and having to explain every single detail in your life can take a toll on most celebrities she says.
“Growing up and trying to figure out your life…while people feel like they have some sort of entitlement to know what’s going on, is absolutely, excruciatingly terrible — and the only way to get over it, is to go into it,” Smith stated.
Besides going through this as a celebrity child, there also comes a positive side. She was able to see her parents and how all of their hard work pays off. Smith is able to admire her parents and have positive role models as she becomes her own successful celebrity. Child celebrity stars often have a negative light shed on them once they grow up, but for Willow, she is jumping right into the mix.
