Walmart Sold Tee Shirt That Promotes Lynching Reporters: ‘Rope. Tree. Journalist.’
Walmart was selling a T-shirt promoting violence against journalists on it’s website. The Radio Television Digital News Association asked for it to be removed due to, “today’s vitriolic political and ideological environment.”
The RTDNA announced that Walmart removed the T-shirt — which reads: “Rope. Tree. Journalist. SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED” — from being sold on it’s online store.
The shirt surfaced on Trump supporters at a Trump rally last year when a Reuters journalist tweeted a photo of a man in the Walmart tee. According to RTDNA, the slogan, “has been in existence for many years.”

“Although the shirts are available from at least one other e-commerce source, Walmart appears to be the only major retailer selling them in the US,” Dan Shelley wrote, who is the RTDNA executive director.
“At worst, they openly encourage violence targeting journalists,” Shelley continued. “We believe they are particularly inflammatory within the context of today’s vitriolic political and ideological environment.”
Wow. Walmart was selling a shirt that glorified the lynching of journalists. Literally, killing people for reporting the news.
