And the winner of Project Runway, season 16 is…

Congratulations Kentaro Kameyama, winner of Project Runway, season 16. Kentaro was among the finalists that showed their ten piece collections at New York Fashion Week. The other finalists were Margarita Álvarez, Ayana Ife, and Brandon Kee.

Brandon and Kentaro were friends throughout the entirety of the season, often helping each other for opinions and advice. They often referred to each other as “brother.”

Brandon was a frontrunner for most of the season, but his collection at New York Fashion Week did not have enough variety in patterns for the judges.

Kentaro, on the other hand, thought that he was already going to lose, so did whatever he wanted to do and just had fun with it. His collection was not cohesive at first, but he took the judges advice and switched around a bunch of pieces that he had made to make it look like a more cohesive collection. It paid off in the end.

The winner of Project Runway received “$100,000 to launch their line, and the opportunity to collaborate with JCPenney on a limited edition capsule collection as part of the “Project Runway” line sold at select JCPenney stores and online.

Also, the winner received a selection of Brother sewing and embroidery machines, a lifetime supply of pens from the Pilot FriXion Erasable Pen, the official pen of Project Runway and an all-expense paid luxury trip to Japan and more. Additionally, the winning designer and model received a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.”
