Nicki Minaj’s Brother, Jelani Maraj, Convicted of Child Rape
Jelani Maraj was convicted and could be facing up to 15 years in prison.
Nicki Minaj’s 38 year old brother is facing jail time. Her brother was found guilty of predatory sexual assault on a child younger than 13 years old. He was first arrested back in December of 2015 with connections to this case. He was later released on $100,000 bail.
The trial lasted more than a month. Maraj has been convicted of repeatedly raping his stepdaughter over a three-year span, starting when she was 11. He could serve a sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
The abuse to the child started a long time ago and the girl who is now 14 testified against Maraj. She says that he told her it had to be a secret and that she was his puppet. Her younger brother, who is now ten years old, also was present saying that he walked in on them and saw them partially clothed.
Nicki Minaj has not commented on the case whatsoever. But, after he was arrested she did share a family photo with her brother in it.
