Lady Gaga Performs at Hurricane Benefit Concert With Former Presidents In Audience

Lady Gaga appears next to 5 former U.S. presidents during a benefit concert.

The benefit concert, called “Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal” (One America Appeal for short), was centered around the many hurricanes that have been occurring. It was hosted by former living U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The concert was held at Reed Arena on the Texas A&M campus in San Antonio, TX.

Texas A&M University President, Michael K. Young, mentioned that he hopes the concert would raise millions for those affected.  In the days after the concert, a final count of how much was raised would be announced. All of the sales from the concert will go towards the hurricane victims.

In an interview with the Texas A&M president, he speaks more about how the event touched upon the missions of Texas A&M and those of the former U.S. Presidents. “We are, at our core all about service, all about helping others,” Young said. “That is a central value here at this university and to have these five former presidents here to help us extend our reach, …and we hope help them extend their reach … we know how committed all five of them are to helping the victims.”

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at the concert as a performer. The show also featured many other performers, some with Texan roots.  The performers included by Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Lee Greenwood, Sam Moore, Cassadee Pope, Yolanda Adams, Stephanie Quayle and The Gatlins.  Gaga took the picture with the former presidents before performing and shared it on her social media pages.
