Chance the Rapper Posts Emotional Unboxing of Grammys

Chance the Rapper and Kensli Bennett

Just in case you didn’t already love Chance the Rapper and his daughter before, you will after watching these videos.

24-year-old Chance the Rapper was a relatively unknown artist until he came out with his hit rap mixtape, Coloring Book, in May of 2016. His album ended up beating out the likes of DJ Khaled, Kanye West and Drake at the Grammy Awards, the self produced rapper winning three Grammys, making history without ever selling a single physical copy of his music.

The rapper prided himself in dropping each of his songs for free. Chance the Rapper won his Grammy Awards in Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance for his song “No Problem.”

In a video posted to his Twitter account, Chance was shown unboxing his awards with his two year old daughter Kensli. Together, we watched as they opened each box, announcing out loud what number award it was, before reading out the inscription. After each award was set down, Kensli congratulated her father with a big hug. It wasn’t until the last one that Kensli plucked up the award herself, plopping it down with the others, before plopping herself down into her father’s lap, hugging him close until the end of the video, as the voice in the background proclaimed “God is good in so many ways.”

And just as the tweet Chance retweeted following these videos states: “Fan or not, this is beautiful.”
