TRL Is Back

TRL is back on MTV as of this week.

A remake of the hit show will be aired five times a week on MTV. TRL, or Total Request Live, was taken off the air several years ago and is hosted by two people and is around celebrity and entertainment news. The original show used to feature a video countdown which showed music videos that were requested via text by viewers.

Although we will miss having our selections aired, the show will be airing world premieres of music videos instead. Along with this change, there are several other things MTV is doing to modernize TRL. The hosts will all be current celebrities. Hosting the show primarily will be DC Young Fly. He’ll be taking over original host Carson Daly’s slot.

TRL wouldn’t be iconic without it’s New York backdrop which is why MTV has built a new and bigger studio in Times Square. It’s three times larger than the original and has plenty of space for performances and audience participation. The show launched on October 9th and seems to be a success so far.
