CELEBRITY

Exclusive Interview with EVEE

If you haven’t heard of EVEE yet, you will soon. Her voice is so unique and soulful, you’ll want to have her on repeat. Glitter recently sat down with EVEE, who is signed with Siri Music Group/Caroline/Capitol, to find out how she was discovered, her sound, her classically-trained opera background, best advice she’s ever given, definition of self-love, and how she gives back to the community. Read on to find out more about this amazingly, talented singer.

GLITTER: How were you discovered?
EVEE: A few years ago, my mom found an audition on backstage.com that she thought I should go to. Neither of us really knew what it was for, but we went, I sang, then I came home. I never really thought of it until it turned out to be an audition for Siri Music Group. Shortly after I was signed.

GLITTER: How would you describe your sound?

EVEE: I’m terrible at classifying music into genres but alternative pop sounds right to me.

GLITTER: Is it true that you’re a classically-trained opera singer? Does that come into play with your current music?

EVEE: I am! I feel like you have to have a solid foundation when it comes to singing. Learning opera gave me that foundation, so a definite yes!

GLITTER: You’ve described your song, “Lone Wolf” as your personal anthem. Why is that?

EVEE: When I first started writing music, my dad told me to write a song about growing up. It wasn’t until I really got into writing Lone Wolf that I discovered I followed his advice all along. Lone Wolf is filled with personal struggle and triumph. And since I always feel like I’m growing – it’s a healthy reminder to myself saying “yes you can do this.”

GLITTER: Do you believe that art has a higher purpose than simply an entertainment value?

EVEE: I feel like all art forms should have some sort of message, otherwise why are you saying it. As artists, we have the opportunity to educate one another and create a more unified world. Now more than ever, I feel obligated to reach out and help. I want my music to really touch people, give perspective, and ultimately heal any part of your heart that hurts.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about your new song, “Incredible”?

EVEE: Incredible is such an cool song to me. Cazz Brindis, Chauncy and Kim from Jackson/Croft and I wrote this song in about 1 hour after we landed in L.A. It was one of those songs where everything just clicked. Incredible has so many layers to it, which makes it so interesting to me. The lyrics are reflective and sombe. Is it weird that this is the song I have on repeat lately?

GLITTER: Is there something about your fans would be surprised to know?

EVEE: I’m not a big fan of horror movies – between the suspense, the gore… it’s just not my thing. I don’t like to be scared! However, I do watch SO much anime. I adore cooking; basically anything that involves making food.

GLITTER: Is there someone you’d like to work with that you haven’t worked with already?

EVEE: I’m a huge fan of James Blake, so he’s number one on my list, currently. And if I ever got the chance to work with Donald Glover, I would probably lose it.

GLITTER: How do you give back to the community?

EVEE: Ever since I was a small girl, I’ve been bringing home little animals in need of help. Now that I’m a “grown up” (if you can really call me that) nothing has really changed. I like to say I run a halfway house for wayward kittens lol. I rescue kittens in my area, get them plump and healthy, then find them loving forever homes. I also work with the Trap and Release program with my local ASPCA.

GLITTER: Best advice you were ever given?

EVEE: Pretty much any advice my dad has given me is the best advice. However, the one that sticks with me in the toughest times: “Everything is going to be fine.”  It’s so simple, it’s almost silly – but it definitely helps to have this little mantra when things get hectic.

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

EVEE: Self-love to me is feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin no matter who or what comes along to rattle you. And knowing that every day you wake up #flawless

GLITTER: Do you have any new projects coming up that you can tell us about?

EVEE: I have an EP coming out soon and I’m so excited about sharing it with you! I can’t say much, but I will say the music is definitely worth the wait!

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?

EVEE: For all social media you can find me @meetevee
Warning: There will be many cat photos.
