Jimmy Kimmel Criticized Lawmakers On Gun Control Laws

Fans of Kimmel know he is not one to shy away from a political debate. The late night talk show host took the opportunity to discuss gun control laws in wake of the latest gun attack in Las Vegas. The gunman killed 59 people and left 500 more injured before taking his own life. He was using semi automatic weapons to gun down the concert goers Sunday evening.

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, a number of other lawmakers who won’t do anything about this because the NRA has their balls in a money clip, also sent their thoughts and their prayers today, which is good. They should be praying. They should be praying for God to forgive them for letting the gun lobby run this country, because it’s so crazy.”

He also criticizes the people who are saying there is nothing we can do about these attacks in America. “There are a lot of things we can do about it. But we don’t, which is interesting because when someone with a beard attacks us, we tap phones, we invoke travel bans, we build walls to take every possible precaution to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” Kimmel stated.

His last comment comes after Bill O’Reilly came under fire for his own comments about the mass shooting. O’ Reilly stated how attacks like the one experienced on Sunday are the price we pay for our freedoms, and, “the Second Amendment is clear that Americans have a right to arm themselves for protection. Even the loons.”

You can watch the entire segment below. We continue to keep in our prayers and thoughts those affected by Sunday’s events.
