Veep Star Uses Cancer Diagnosis to Discuss Universal Healthcare

Julia Louis- Dreyfus sadly announced on her social media pages today that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Veep star did not just leave her followers with the announcement of her diagnosis though, as she went on to mention that many women are not lucky like her to have the support system and “fantastic” health insurance that she has.

“Let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality,” is how the 56-year-old star ended her post.

Dreyfus mentioned that 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, while studies show that 1 in 37 will lose their life to the disease.

Just when you thought…

Her comment on universal healthcare comes days after the proposed Trumpcare bill that was set to be voted on was killed before the vote even took place. Multiple Republican senators had come forward saying they could not in good faith vote yes for the bill proposed by Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy.

There are talks of President Trump planning to sign an executive order on healthcare reform as early as next week. A main point of his executive order is that individuals could shop for insurance plans across state lines, no longer being bound by plans provided by the individual’s home state.

We will be watching Trump’s actions in the next coming days. In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with Julia and her family.
