Jennifer Lopez Looks to help those in Puerto Rico

Over the weekend, it was announced that Jennifer Lopez would be donating $1 million to help those affected by the hurricanes in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

The actor/singer, otherwise known as JLo attended a press conference alongside New York’s Mayor, Andrew Cuomo, to make the big announcement. The conference was live streamed on Twitter where she did it first in Spanish and then in English.

She is teaming up with not only her boyfriend, former New York Yankee third basemen, Alex Rodriguez, but also her ex-husband, Marc Anthony to help bring relief efforts to the islands as quickly as possible. She is also collaborating with Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban, and player J.J. Barea to send planes full of supplies and generators to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Lopez is doing anything she can to raise awareness and bring helping hands on board. “Phone calls are being made to celebrity friends and heads of corporations. So far, everyone has been more than willing to make donations or aid in any way possible” said Lopez.

Lopez, who has family down in Puerto Rico, has been unable to come in contact with any of her loved ones.

“What’s on my mind is what’s going on in Puerto Rico. The devastation is beyond belief.  Me and my cousin still haven’t been able to hear from our families over there,” Lopez said in a video posted to her Instagram.

Lopez’s selfless nice is amazing. She urges all who can to help in any way possible because every little bit counts in this time of need.
