Dave Matthews Band Hosts Charlottesville Concert For Unity

Yesterday, the Dave Matthews Band hosted a night of peace and unity dedicated to the recent events that have occurred in Charlottesville, VA.

The band was based in Charlottesville, VA and created this event in the hope that it will help heal their roots. The events that occurred in Charlottesville took place August 11th and 12th and were based on racial injustice.

The show featured many artists such as Justin Timberlake, the Roots, and Ariana Grande. The concert was a success as the stadium was packed and it was also streamed live on the concert’s website, Music and Unity.

The website also features interviews done with members of the groups that performed as well as Charlottesville citizens and the Director of the concert. They were asked many questions relating to racial justice, the effect of the Charlottesville events on their own lives and what they hoped viewers took away from this concert.

When a University of Virginia college student was asked what he hoped concertgoers took from this concert, his response was “That we have to come together, we have to understand one another, and we have to stop dehumanizing each other in thinking it’s always us vs. them; otherwise, the violence and divides will only get worse.”

If you want to help the victims, their families and first responders of the Charlottesville events as well as organizations dedicated to unity, justice, and peace, you can donate through the concert’s website.
