P!nk Gives Inspiring Speech At The VMA’s

P!nk VMA

P!nk poses with daughter Willow Sage Hart and husband, Carey Hart, on the red carpet before the VMA’s.

P!nk made a significant impact at the VMA’s this year. First, she performed all of her greatest hits in one great mash-up finishing with her newest hit “What About Us” released this year on the album “Beautiful Trauma.” She even made a car fly over the crowd, while still managing to be on top of it and singing.

After her unforgettable performance, Ellen presented the Michael Jackson Vanguard Video Award to P!nk, an award previously won by Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and other notable artists. During her speech, she shared a heartbreaking story of a time when she was driving her daughter to school. Willow, her daughter,  asked her mother why she was the ugliest girl that she knows. Willow also said that she thinks she looks like a boy with long hair. P!nk asked herself why six-year-olds are thinking and saying that, and jokingly asked if she could kick a six-year-old’s ass.

P!nk went home and made a PowerPoint of rock stars that probably get made fun of every day but live their truth and keep their head high. Examples include David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, Prince, and more. She shared how people think that P!nk herself looks masculine, but she doesn’t change she just sells out arenas.

She finished by saying we all need to live our truths and not change who we are just because some people may not like something about us. Then she calls out her daughter for being beautiful. It was truly an inspiring speech.
