Game of Thrones Capes Are Actually Ikea Rugs

You can now make your own personal Game of Thrones cape out of Ikea rugs

In a lecture titled “Designing the Middle Ages: The Costumes of Game of Thrones”, the former costume designer Michele Clapton revealed that they use Ikea rugs as the capes for the characters. She says that “we take anything we can. We cut and we shave them and then we added strong leather straps.” This was to make them look like they “belong to the landscape” so they waxed and frosted accordingly. Well, now we know how easy it is to make our own night’s watch cape!
