Gillian Anderson Wants More Female Writers

Among The X-Files fans, Gillian Anderson is no ordinary actress. She played Dana Scully on the famed show and has always been known as your favorite badass. It comes as no surprise that Anderson also follows in her character’s footsteps by always being outspoken and passionate about the causes she cares about. She recently addressed the incredibly small amount of female directors to have directed an episode of the show on Twitter:

“And 2 out of 207 eps directed by women. I too look forward to the day when the numbers are different. #TheFutureisFemale”

The Twitter comment was a response to a Washington Post article reporting on the all male writers line-up for the next season of The X-Files.

This isn’t the first time the show ran into some trouble. Until last year’s revival, Anderson was not paid the same amount as co-star David Duchovny. It’s a little hard to believe that Anderson, who was nominated several times for an Emmy, wasn’t paid in the same manner.

You can probably understand why she would be so frustrated with the current statistics for the show — you would be too.
