Chloë Grace Moretz Responds to Snow White Body-Shaming Advertising

DBF7rAxUIAADQHz.jpg_largeA recent advert and promotional trailer for a Snow White inspired film entitled Red Shoes and the 7 Dwarfs (an English dubbed South Korean film) has been under fire for promoting body shaming and misogynistic ideals.

Plus-sized model, Tess Holiday, tweeted a photo of the poster, which was advertised during the Cannes film festival. She wrote, “How did this get approved by an entire marketing team? Why is it okay to tell young kids being fat=ugly?”

Chloë Grace Moretz, who provided for the voice for Snow White in the film, responded to the tweet with an angry reply:

“I have now fully reviewed the marketing for Red Shoes, I am just as appalled and angry as everyone else, this wasn’t approved by me or my team”.

According to Salon, Moretz was not aware of the creative direction that the marketing campaign was moving towards. The film’s producer, Sujin Hwang, released an official apology statement, and has also withdrawn all advertising.
