Chloe and Halle Slays Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble”
Watch Chloe X Halle give a powerful remixed version of Kendrick Lamar’s “Humble”.
Chloe and Halle (Bailey) recently released a new video on their Instagram account with a cover of Kendrick Lamar’s new single “Humble”. Chloe and Halle are twins, and they make up the singing duo Chloe X Halle. The video shows them seated at a piano putting their vocal twist on the song with a remix of their own. They course through the piece harmonizing together using pulsating vocal vibrato and melodious sounds.
Of course, they had to alter some of the lyrics of the song for a clean version. They sing “I’m so, I’m so sick and tired, tired of the photoshop/ Show me somethin’ natural like afro on Richard Pryor/ Show me somethin’ natural like booty with some stretch marks” an ode to the female body.
“Still goin’ take you down right on your Mama’s couch in Polo socks, ayy/ This song way too crazy, ayy/ You do not amaze me, ayy/ I blew cool from AC, ayy/ Obama just paged me, ayy/ I don’t fabricate it, ayy/ Most of y’all be faking, ayy/ I stay modest ‘bout it, ayy/” they continued. They then urged the viewers to “Sit down [and] be humble” as they ended the song in a lower note with smiling faces in the 48-second video. The song encourages positive body image among women by showing their stretch marks and natural faces and natural hair.
Chloe and Halle are currently signed by Beyonce’s Parkwood label and have recently released their mixtape ‘The Two of Us’ on their website. The Georgia natives gained a lot of recognition after their 2013 cover of Beyonce’s Pretty Hurt went viral and have been pursuing a career in music.
