Halsey Drops New Music Video

Halsey debuts a new single, foreshadowing what’s to come for her sophomore album.

After her chart-topping debut album, Badlands, Halsey returns with “Now or Never,” the first single off her upcoming album, hopeless fountain kingdom, which is planned to be released on June 2.

If you loved Badlands, prepare yourself for a new, yet refreshing sound from everyone’s pastel tressed singer. In comparison to her past dream pop, alternative driven sound in Badlands, “Now or Never” shows Halsey’s more mellow and R&B side.

Accompanying the single, the “Now or Never” music video premiered on Halsey’s YouTube VEVO channel Tuesday afternoon. The video was co-directed by Sing J Lee and Halsey, who is making her directorial debut.

The video is shot in a Mexicano theme within a small, desert-like town. Adding to the aesthetic, Halsey rocks blue tresses and wears silky, floral robes and bombers— looks we can totally get behind for spring.

A story of star-crossed lovers, Halsey’s character falls in love with a man, who she is forbidden to see. Throughout the video, they fight to see one another, often meeting in secret (where things get SUPER heated🔥🔥🔥 ). Think of Romeo and Juliet vibes.

Halsey enters into a tarot reading, where her future with her love is said to never align. Running out, Halsey jumps into a car and suddenly shots are fired, giving her an exit to the scene. In the final clip, Halsey is seen chopping away at her locks.

So whether you like Halsey’s look or sound, the “Now or Never” music video is a must-see for everyone.
