10 Ways to Celebrate TRW

Stop what you’re doing and dive into a YA book because it’s officially Teen Read Week! Whether you’re a bookworm teen or know a teen that loves to read, here are 10 great ways to celebrate YA fans’ favorite week!

 Celebrate Teen Read Week 2015

1.     Register for a library card

As much as we love adding new books to our collection, the prices can add up. To help save money (and space on your bookshelf for all your favorite titles) visit your local branch and register for a library card! Not only will you have access to hundreds of books, but you can also get involved with clubs and meet fellow book lovers like you!

2.     Participate in #BlinkTRW

If anyone knows YA, it’s the authors published through Blink! This teen division of HarperCollins understands and embraces the importance of the YA genre. Join Blink authors in Twitter Chats, Google Hangouts and more in celebration of Teen Read Week! Click here for more information.

3.     Start a book club

The only thing that makes a great story better is being able to talk about it with friends. Pick a book you’ve been dying to read, buy some snacks and invite your friends over for weekly book club meetings! Get even more involved by choosing a whole series for your club.

4.     Post a #bookshelfie of your favorite YA title

We know not to judge a book by its cover, but sometimes the cover is one of the coolest parts! Give your favorite book some social media love by posing it on your bookshelf, taking a picture and posting it on Instagram using the hashtag #bookshelfie.

5.     Write a short story

Those of us who love to read often love to write. If you’re favorite story has you feeling inspired pick up a pen and paper and start writing a story of your own! Who knows, maybe one day your story will be someone’s favorite read.

6.     Begin reading a new YA book series

Book series are great because they allow you to stay connected with your favorite characters longer. Think of your current favorite book series. Is there another one that’s similar? Or maybe start a series that’s completely different from anything you’ve ever read. The opportunities are endless!

7.     Write a blog review for a YA book

One of the best ways to support your favorite author is sharing positive reviews of their book. Log into your blog, Amazon account or even Facebook page and let everyone know how great a book is. Note: make sure to include a disclaimer if you include any spoilers!

8.     Email your favorite YA Author

Authors write books so readers can enjoy them. Let your favorite YA author know how much you appreciate them by sending them a nice email. You may just make their day!

9.     Design a bookmark

This is for those who prefer physical copies to e-copies. A bookmark is essential for any avid reader, so why not make a customized bookmark that can hold your place in a book and you can be proud of!

10.  Give a book as a present

Books are great as presents. They help us gain knowledge, escape to far away places, discover who we are and more. Get ahead on your Christmas shopping and stock up on books for loved ones!
