GLITTER: When did you first start acting?

BRET: I did not really start acting professionally until college, but I used to put on plays in my basement with my brothers and sisters when we were younger. We would try to recreate episodes of Home Improvement or Saved By The Bell and put on a great show for our parents and grandparents.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about the new CBS series, The Inspectors?

BRET: The Inspectors follows two storylines: Preston’s mom, Amanda Wainwright, a Postal Inspector who is getting back in the saddle after losing her longtime partner and husband in a car accident that paralyzed Preston, and then we also follow my character Preston as he navigates his way through his freshman year of college and adjusts to his new life in a wheelchair. Both characters have to overcome quite a bit of adversity and it really is an inspirational story.

GLITTER: Who do you play?

BRET: I play a really interesting character on the show. His name is Preston Wainwright and he is a paraplegic college freshman who wants nothing more than to walk again and become a United States Postal Inspector. Preston is a whiz kid with a “never say die” attitude and he helps shine a very positive light on the entire physically challenged community.

GLITTER: What other shows did you guest star on?

BRET: I got my first TV credit playing a young police officer on How to Get Away With Murder opposite Viola Davis. Talk about intimidating! I was then able to parlay that into roles on Stalker (CBS) and The Goldbergs (ABC) and eventually I landed one of the lead roles on The Inspectors.

GLITTER: What is one thing your fans might not know about you?

BRET: I kind of have a man crush on Channing Tatum. I think he seems like the coolest guy in the world and I want to hang out with him 🙂

GLITTER: If you could ask anyone dead or alive one question, who would you ask, what would you ask them, and why?

BRET: I would love to sit down with the earliest settlers in America and learn more about what that time was like before the colonization, infrastructure, and technology. I think talking to them would give me an even greater appreciation for what we have and for how far we have advanced as a nation and as a society.

GLITTER: What is your favorite thing to do on your downtime?

BRET: I love to exercise and be outdoors. Also, if I am not working on a show or a movie I am definitely making plans to travel.

GLITTER: What is one thing you can’t live without?

BRET: Some type of creative outlet.

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

BRET: Being able to accept yourself for who you are, both your strengths and your flaws. I know I have character flaws, but being able to recognize them and work on them makes me love myself that much more.

GLITTER: What charities do you support?

BRET: I ‘m a huge fan of The Reeve Foundation. I think what they are doing to help end paralysis is amazing and groundbreaking. I also support a handful of charities that help underprivileged kids stay in school, stay fed and clothed, and enjoy life.

GLITTER: What do you love the most about fall?

BRET: I’m from Michigan and I think the fall is the most beautiful time of the year there. I love when the leaves change color, the air gets crisp, and of course fall means football season is here.
